The Harold Martin Bergt collection consists of an audiocassette and transcript of an oral history interview conducted between Bergt and John Britton during the fall of 1987. Bergt worked as a teacher/principal in a variety of Missouri Synod Lutheran Schools during his career: St. Johns Lutheran School, Chester, Nebraska (1941-1942), St. Paul's Lutheran School, Ute, Iowa (1942-1944), St. Paul's Lutheran School, Coffeyville, Kansas (1944-1946), Zion Lutheran School, Hastings, Nebraska (1946-1959), and Trinity Lutheran School, Freemont, Nebraska (1959-1982). In the interview, Bergt discussed the areas of change and continuity within parochial education during his career. This oral history interview was conducted as a requirement for the graduate level Educational Foundations course entitled History of Education in American Culture at Mankato State University in Mankato, Minnesota.
